Wow that summer went fast
Haven't been over here in a bit, sorry. Too many socials trying to follow the Twexit diaspora because fuck that website.
Anyway, Vienna was fucking amazing. The city was great, the food was great, and the opera was a once-in-a-lifetime event. We took a shitload of photos of the city, the parks, the museums, and (perhaps most importantly) my fabulous opera outfits.
Couple weeks back we also took a shorter weekend-sized trip to Amsterdam, which was pretty fun and we'll definitely be going back.
House hunting continues to be a slog. We're somewhat demoralized after a string of misses and it's hard to work up the energy to really dig into it, but I'm sure we'll get back to it.
And finally got all my name paperwork done, so my passport, my Irish residency card, and my banking information are all up to date. Still a few minor things I wouldn't mind fixing (like my birth certificate and our marriage license) but it's more of a long tail effort at that point.
Still getting daily tension headaches, which sucks a lot. CAT scan came back clean, which wasn't really a surprise. I think I have some causation narrowed down: my current top suspect for proximate cause is intracranial hypotension, and my bet for root cause is isolated diastolic hypotension triggered by my blood pressure meds. Which matches the timeline, because they started around the time I started on spiro as part of my HRT, which is (in addition to being a kind of shit anti-androgen) more commonly prescribed for blood pressure. But they didn't go away when I changed to a proper GnRH agonist instead, because by then I was on other BP meds - first lercanidipine, then olmesartan + amlodipine.
Which I do need, because my BP gets pretty high otherwise. But now I tend to read around 120/60 - 115/55, which is (from what I've picked up) a little wonky. Still waiting on my neurologist appointment in fucking November, but in the meantime may talk to my GP about fussing with my BP meds.
Also had my first surgical consult for bottom surgery, and have an appointment next month with one of the few consulting psychiatrists in the country who will do a gender dysphoria assessment purely on a GP referral, without requiring me to go through the (years-waitlisted) national gender service. Which is a necessary precondition to getting my insurance to pay for it. So… that's all moving forward.
And that's more or less the state of things.
