Got back from the card shop tonight and arrived in the middle of an impromptu apartment complex party. Someone had caught a bunch of fish and it was being grilled and eaten. There was alcohol. It was pretty awesome.

Trade pickup of the weekend: English Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed. Portal Three Kingdoms was a Magic set with an incredibly tiny print run, and mostly in Japanese and Chinese; the English language run was available only in Australia and New Zealand and not very common there. So scoring a Xiahou Dun was pretty awesome.

All the books I'm looking forward to come out in early November. Any recent sf/f suggestions to tide me over until then?

What books are you looking forward to? A new Pratchett comes out soon. The second part of a Connie Willis two parter I didn't read the first part of yet (it's set in the same world as To Say Nothing of the Dog, which was great, and Doomsday Book, which was okay) likewise.

Towers of Midnight, the hardcover Cryoburn release, and the next book in Devon Monk's not-entirely-unreadable urban fantasy series. I did forget about the last Thomas Covenant book, which is late October.

I do need to get the new Pratchette, and will check out Connie Willis.

...ah, now I understand why you're not planning to get the new one ASAP. I read the first one in July, and my arrival at the final page was punctuated with a book-slam and a "goddammit!"

Yeah, I'm big on not reading unfinished serieses, but I am FANATICAL about not reading the first part of two-parters.
